MS Dhoni's manager and childhood friend Mihir Diwakar explained why MSD decided to bid adieu to his cricketing career at 7:29 PM on August 15.
According to Diwakar, Dhoni's entire cricketing career was for his country and there could be no bigger day than August 15 for a true patriot like Dhoni to retire. Diwakar also revealed that retirement does not mean the end of cricket for Mahi as he is now completely focused on the Indian Premier League (IPL), scheduled to take place on September 19.
With two major ICC titles under his kitty, Dhoni had built his reputation as one of the finest skippers in ODI cricket. Team India won their third major ICC title, 2013 Champions Trophy, under Dhoni's captaincy.
The legendary wicket-keeper batsman registered the most wins by an Indian cricket team skipper in limited overs cricket (110) and also became the only captain to have all the three major ICC tournaments.
