Gautam Gambhir India head coach: The search for Indian cricket team's new head is likely to conclude by the end of this month, with the BCCI finalizing former India opener Gautam Gambhir for the position. According to Dainik Bhaskar, Gambhir is set to become Team India's new head coach, and BCCI is expected to announce the decision very soon.
The tenure of current head coach Rahul Dravid will end after ICC T20 World Cup 2024. BCCI had invited applications for the head coach role in May, and speculation has been rife since then that Gambhir would be appointed to the position.
The report suggests that Gautam Gambhir has demanded to bring in his own support staff if he becomes the head coach of Team India.
At present, Paras Mhambrey serves as the bowling coach, Vikram Rathore as the batting coach, and T. Dilip as the fielding coach under Rahul Dravid’s tenure. Should Gambhir be appointed, it is expected that new personnel will take over these roles as part of his coaching team.
"We have held talks with Gambhir about becoming the head coach of the Indian team. He will replace the outgoing Rahul Dravid after the T20 World Cup," Dainik Bhaskar quoted a BCCI source as saying.

When Ravi Shastri was the head coach, Vikram Rathore replaced Sanjay Bangar as the batting coach. Rathore retained his position in the support staff even after Rahul Dravid succeeded Shastri as the head coach.
Under Gautam Gambhir's supervision, Kolkata Knight Riders clinched the IPL 2024 title. His leadership at KKR has garnered widespread praise, solidifying his reputation as a top coaching candidate.
During a recent event, Gautam Gambhir said, "There is no greater honor than coaching the national team." He added, "I would love to become the coach of the Indian team. You are representing 140 crore Indians and people across the world."
