EX-India Under-19 star Saurabh Netravalkar captains US team

Saurabh Netravalkar was India's highest wicket taker in the U-19 World Cup in 2010. Even after claiming three wickets in the lone Ranji game he played, he wasn't satisfied with his future

The six-foot tall Indian left-arm seam bowler Saurabh Netravalkar, became the captain of the US national cricket team last month. The 27-year-old was India's highest wicket taker in the U-19 World Cup in 2010. Netravalkar's debut Ranji game for Mumbai against Karnataka turned out to be his only first-class game as he left for the United States in the year 2015.

Even after claiming three wickets in the lone Ranji game he played, he wasn't satisfied with his future. "I gave two years full-time to cricket but felt i wasn't making it to the next level," he told TOI.

England captain Joe Root and Pakistan's star opener Ahmed Shehzad were two of Saurabh’s victims during the U-19 World Cup campaign in 2010.

Netravalkar felt that he wasn't able to make it big even after devoting full-time two years to cricket. He sat for the GRE and TOEFL exams after which he got admission in the Cornell University for a master's in computer science.

However, he once again thought of returning to the cricket field and took advantage of the opportunity he got in the US and became the captain of the team.
