England has made history by becoming the first team to score 500,000 runs in Test cricket. This achievement was recorded during the second Test of NZ vs ENG Test series against New Zealand at Wellington, marking a unique milestone in the 147-year history of Test cricket.

England reached this remarkable figure after playing 1,082 Test matches and accumulating 18,900 innings. They also hold the record for most centuries in Test cricket, with 929. In total, 717 players have contributed to this achievement.

With England (500,000 runs in Test cricket) at number one, Australia ranks second with 428,000 Test runs, while India is third with 278,751 runs from 586 Test matches.

England showcase dominance during New Zealand tour 

After a thumping 8-wicket win in the first Test, England continued their momentum in the second Test against hosts New Zealand. Despite being bowled out for 280 in their first innings, England staged a remarkable comeback by skittling New Zealand for just 125 runs.

In England's second innings, contributions from Ben Duckett (92), Jacob Bethell (96), Joe Root (73*), and Harry Brook (55)—each scoring half-centuries—helped England tighten their grip on the game.

At stumps on day 2, England (280 and 378/5) lead hosts New Zealand by 533 runs. The visitors are now on the brink of securing a 2-0 series victory.

England out of WTC Final race

Despite England's impressive performance against New Zealand, their prospects of making it to the World Test Championship (WTC) final are all but over.

With 10 wins and 9 losses in 20 matches, England currently holds the sixth spot on WTC points table.

India and Australia remain firm favorites to secure a place in WTC final, while Sri Lanka and South Africa still have opportunities if they can elevate their performances.

While England may be out of the WTC race, their remarkable display has added another mega milestone to their cricketing journey.
