Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of 2nd Test against England
As stated by bowling coach Bharat Arun, it's too ear;y to put him to play into a game-like situation
Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the second Test match between India and England at Lord’s starting Thursday, August 9. The star Indian pacer, who was recovering from a thumb injury, was seen bowling in the nets and was available for selection but the Indian team management is cautious about letting him play.
The BCCI while naming the squad for the first three Tests had said, “Jasprit Bumrah who has been included in the squad, will be available for selection from the 2nd Test onwards based on his fitness.”
After the 31-run defeat in the first Test of the five-match series against England at Edgbaston, ousting of a key bowler like Bumrah has brought more bad news for skipper Kohli.
India's bowling coach Bharat Arun on Tuesday said, "Jasprit Bumrah is bowling fit right now but I think it's too early to put him into a game-like situation because, I think, he needs to come out of the band-aid/plaster on his hand. For the second Test, he is out of contention.”
While making an effort to stop a ball on his run-up, the Indian seamer suffered an injury to his thumb during the first T20I against Ireland in Malahide. He was included provisionally in the Indian squad for the second and third Tests against England.
