Sunrisers Defeat Chennai By Five Wickets At Chepauk

Batting first, CSK was bundled out for 154 runs.

In the 43rd match of IPL 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad secured a 5-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk — marking their first-ever victory at CSK's home ground. Batting first, Chennai struggled to build momentum and managed to post 154 runs before being bowled out.

Hyderabad, in reply, chased down the target with confidence, reaching 158/5 in 18.4 overs. Ishan Kishan and Kamindu Mendis played key knocks to steer the team home, displaying composure under pressure. Despite some resistance from CSK bowlers, SRH maintained control throughout the chase.

Noor Ahmed was the standout bowler for Chennai with two wickets, while Khalil Ahmed, Anshul, and Ravindra Jadeja claimed one each. However, their efforts weren't enough to stop Hyderabad from scripting a memorable win in Chennai.

SRH Bowlers Dismantle CSK for 154, Harshal Patel Shines with 4 Wickets

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bowl first against Chennai Super Kings in their IPL 2025 clash. Batting first, CSK was bundled out for 154 runs.

Dewald Brevis stood out with a quickfire 42 off 25 balls, while young Ayush Mhatre chipped in with a handy 30. SRH's Harshal Patel was the pick of the bowlers, scalping 4 wickets. Pat Cummins and Jaydev Unadkat took 2 wickets each, while Mohammed Shami and Kamindu Mendis claimed one apiece.

CSK's innings got off to a disastrous start as Mohammed Shami dismissed Sheikh Rashid on the very first ball of the match. Soon after, Sam Curran departed cheaply for 9, falling to Harshal Patel. Ayush Mhatre looked promising but couldn’t convert his start, falling for 30 to Pat Cummins. Ravindra Jadeja added 21 before Kamindu Mendis sent him packing.

Dewald Brevis tried to steady the innings with an aggressive knock but was run out for 42 due to sharp work from Harshal Patel. Shivam Dubey managed 12 before Unadkat trapped him. MS Dhoni, coming in at a crucial time, could score only 6 before being dismissed by Harshal. Deepak Hooda's 22 off 21 in the final overs ensured CSK at least crossed the 150-run mark.
