Coach Dravid Backs KL Rahul Even After Continued Poor Performance In T20 WC, Says These Things Can Happen

Kl Rahul has been struggling to find the sweet spot of his willow in the tournament as he recorded scores of 4,9 and 9 in the three matches that he has played so far.

The Men in Blue are having a decent run in the ongoing T20 World Cup that is taking place in Australia. Virat Kohli has been in prolific form and have already played a match-winning knock against Pakistan and the Netherlands.

The only concern for the Indian team management is KL Rahul’s form. He has been struggling to find the sweet spot of his willow in the tournament as he recorded scores of 4,9 and 9 in the three matches that he has played so far.

The Indian head coach Rahul Dravid took part in the press conference ahead of the India-Bangladesh clash. He said, “I think he is a fantastic player, he has a proven track record. I think he has been batting superbly. These things can happen in T20Is, it has not been that easy for top-order batters. This tournament has been challenging, I think he was brilliant in the practice games against the likes of Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc. He got 60 or 70. I am hoping that it all clicks together in the next few games”.

He further added,” We have a lot of conversations with players, it is hard to reveal exact details. Rest assured, both in words and in action, over the last year, he knows he has our support. There has been a lot of clarity on what our side is going to be in this tournament and we have not wavered from that. We play a lot of cricket, you might see different players playing in different situations."

When asked about rain playing spoilsport in the ongoing tournament, he said, “We do not have control over the weather. Afghanistan already missed two matches. We are lucky that we got to play all our matches”.

“This is one such area in which we want to work. Bumrah getting injured create a lot of difference. Arshdeep learned from his mistakes in little time. Bhumi and Shani have performed well. We will discuss the death bowling with the bowlers in the meeting”, Dravid stated on India’s death bowling.

Team India's T20 World Cup squad's oldest member Dinesh Karthik, on Sunday, sustained a back injury during India vs South Africa T20 World Cup match and is doubtful for the match against Bangladesh at Adelaide on November 2, Wednesday, PTI reported.

Dravid also commented on Dinesh Karthik’s injury and said, “He has a back spasm. He worked out today morning. We will see him today. In today’s practice, he will be assessed and the decision will be taken tomorrow. When you are playing at the 5th or 6th position, you sometimes get only 5-6 balls, in such a situation, you cannot blame the player much.”

The Indian team will face the Bangla tigers on Wednesday at the Adelaide Oval. “We respect the Bangladesh team. In the shortest format and in such conditions, you can never say favorite about anyone”, Dravid added.

He further added,’ It’s crystal clear in my and Rohit’s head about the opening pair”.

Speaking about the video of Virat’s room, Dravid said that such an action should not be committed. This is not good. Virat is perfect at this time.
