CAC unhappy with Shastri’s demand to include Bharat Arun

New Delhi: The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) is unhappy with Ravi Shastri’s demand to include his own support staff despite the appointment of Zaheer Khan as bowling coach and Rahul Dravid as the batting consultant for away tours.

The CAC led by Sourav  Ganguly sent a strong letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) and the Committee of Administrators (CoA) stating that the newly appointed head coach was taken into confidence before naming Zaheer Khans as the bowling coach of the national team.

Making its stand clear on the entire episode, BCCI released a press note saying, “The selection of Ravi Shastri was made on the merit of his presentation and the vision that he projected for taking the team to greater heights. After taking the decision on his selection, the CAC consulted him and decided on having Batting and Bowling consultants on overseas tour-to-tour basis, as per the requirement of the team.”

However, it is unlikely that Ravi Shastri will settle for anything less than Arun and he is expected to meet top officials from the BCCI and the CoA during the weekend as he is likely to cut short his trip to United Kingdom.
