BPL 2019: David Warner, Sandeep Lamichhane to play for Sylhet Sixers

The tournament is slated to begin from January 5 and ahead of the tournament, Sixers’ CEO has confirmed signing both the cricketers

For the upcoming season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the Sylhet Sixers franchise has roped in banned Australian batsman David Warner. The tournament is slated to begin from January 5 and ahead of the tournament, Sixers’ CEO has confirmed signing both the cricketers.

“We believe he [Warner] is a player of great impact especially when it comes to T20 cricket. He is a player with a wealth of experience when it comes to handling the pressure of Twenty20 cricket and we are excited to have him in our dressing room,” said Obaid.

Apart from Warner, Nepal’s sensational leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has also been bought by the Sixers as their second foreign signing outside the draft. The players draft is scheduled to take place on October 26.

“I am very excited to let you know that I am part a Sixers. I cannot wait to be part of Sylhet Sixers family,” Warner was quoted in a video post in the Sixers official Facebook page.

Sixers have already retained Nasir Hossain and Sabbir Rahman along with Sohail Tanvir. They have bolstered their strength further by signing Liton Das, who was released by Comilla Victorians.
