Sunrisers Hyderabad's Key Bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar Ruled Out Of IPL 2020, Know Who Will Replace The Pacer

Bhuvneshwar Kumar suffered the injury and walked off the field in the 19th over against Chennai Super Kings. He did try to bowl and had to stop in his stride twice before the physio decided that he needed to walk off.

IPL 2020: David Warner's Sunrisers Hyderabad performed explosively against Chennai Super Kings in their previous match and emerged victoriously but SRH has now received a major jolt for the entire IPL 2020 tournament. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was on Monday ruled out of the ongoing IPL with a thigh muscle injury which could also end his hopes of being a part of the Indian team’s tour of Australia later this year. Bhuvneshwar sustained the injury while bowling the 19th over of Chennai Super Kings’ innings during their October 2 clash here and hobbled out of the field after just one delivery. It is probably a grade 2 or 3 injury, which could mean that he would be out for at least 6 to 8 weeks. It might effectively rule him out of India’s tour of Australia,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity. This is the second case of a player getting injured from the SRH camp - Australian Mitchell Marsh flew back home after sustaining an injury in the opening game and was replaced by Jason Holder. Bhuvneshwar had been in decent form during this year’s IPL with an economy rate of less than 7 in four games with three wickets. His injury will be a massive blow to SRH skipper David Warner as he struggles for quality death bowlers in his side which is short on experience. In the case of Bhuvneshwar, he might stay back in the UAE as the Indian team’s physio Nitin Patel is also there as part of the BCCI’s medical team. Being a centrally-contracted player, Bhuvneshwar’s rehabilitation will be entirely looked after by the BCCI. In Bhuvneshwar's absence, Siddarth Kaul played the game against Mumbai conceding 2 for 64 from his 4 overs. They also have Billy Stanlake, Basil Thampi, and Khaleel Ahmed in the squad, apart from pacers T Natarajan and Sandeep Sharma to replace Bhuvneshwar. The news might be a big blow for the Indian team too, for they have a tour of Australia coming up after the IPL.
