BIG BLOW To Delhi Capitals! Leg Spinner Amit Mishra Ruled Of IPL 2020, Know The Reason Here
Amit Mishra has been performing brilliantly for Delhi Capitals this season but has been ruled out for the entire IPL 2020 tournament.
IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals who have been dominating almost every team in the IPL 2020 have received a major blow for today's match and the tournament head. DC's leg spinner Amit Mishra who has been performing brilliantly this season has been ruled out of the IPL tournament.
An official statement by the team said, "Delhi Capitals' leg-spinner Amit Mishra has been ruled out for the remainder of the current season of the Dream11 Indian Premier League. The 37-year-old sustained a flexor tendon injury to the ring finger of his bowling hand whilst attempting to take a return catch off his bowling during Delhi Capitals' match against the Kolkata Knight Riders in Sharjah on 3rd October 2020. Mishra will now consult with a specialist over the next few days to determine the most appropriate course of management for this unfortunate injury.
Everyone at Delhi Capitals wishes him a speedy recovery."
Key spin bowler Amit Mishra, who has been among wicket-takers in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League, suffered an injury and could only bowl two overs. This comes just after R Ashwin has recovered from his injury to return to the team. DC may have to bring in a change to make up for this.
In his very first over in his team's defence of 228 for 4 in Sharjah, Mishra was hurt while trying to take a return catch of Nitish Rana when the ball ballooned up off a leading edge. Mishra dived across and got his hands underneath the ball but couldn't hold on, and injured himself in the process. He bowled another over and even dismissed Shubman Gill but didn't bowl again after that, finishing the game with figures of 1 for 14 in 2 overs.
Mishra's ouster means Axar Patel will walk back into the side as the second spinner alongside Ravichandran Ashwin for Monday's game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The franchise will also look for a like-for-like replacement who could join them at short notice and could turn towards Indian options like S Midhun, Shubham Singh, and Ankit Soni.
