Mayawati Expels Nephew Akash Anand From BSP: 'Influenced By Father-In-Law, Driven By Selfishness'

The decision comes a day after Mayawati removed Anand, who is her nephew, from all party posts and appointed his father Anand Kumar and Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Gautam as national coordinators in his place.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Monday expelled her nephew Akash Anand from all key party positions. Mayawati said that a meeting of the party leaders were held on Sunday where Akash Anand was relieved of all his responsibilities due to the influence of his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, over him.

Mayawati said that Akash Anand had the opportunity to show maturity and remorse after his removal, but instead, his response reflected arrogance, selfishness, and a lack of political discipline.

Keeping with the tradition of discipline set by Kanshi Ram, Akash Anand has been expelled from the party like his father-in-law for the benefit of the BSP, the party supremo added.

The decision comes a day after Mayawati removed Anand, who is her nephew, from all party posts and appointed his father Anand Kumar and Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Gautam as national coordinators in his place.

"In the BSP’s All-India meeting yesterday, Shri Akash Anand was relieved of all responsibilities, including National Coordinator, as he remained under the influence of his father-in-law, Shri Ashok Siddharth, who had been expelled from the party. He was expected to show remorse and demonstrate maturity. However, on the contrary, the lengthy response given by Shri Akash was not a reflection of his regret or political maturity. Instead, it was largely influenced by his father-in-law and was driven by selfishness, arrogance, and a non-missionary mindset," Mayawati said in a post on X.

"In the interest of the self-respect and dignity movement of the revered Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and in adherence to the tradition of discipline established by Shri Kanshi Ram, Shri Akash Anand, like his father-in-law, has been expelled from the party for the benefit of both the BSP and the movement," the BSP chief added in a series of posts on X.

Respect Every Decision Of Mayawati: Akash Anand

Akash Anand on Monday said he respects every decision of party chief Mayawati and regards them as 'patthar ki lakeer' or carved in stone after he was removed from party position. He also said the decision had an emotional impact on him but asserted that he has taken it as a challenge and has a long battle ahead of him.

Anand, in a post on X in Hindi on Monday, said, "I am a cadre of Mayawati ji and under her leadership I have learnt unforgettable lessons of sacrifice, loyalty and dedication, all these are not just an idea for me, but the purpose of my life. Every decision of Behan ji (Mayawati) is like a patthar ki lakeer for me (carved in stone). I respect and stand by every decision taken by her."

"The decision left me emotional, but it is a big challenge now, the test is difficult and there's a long battle ahead," he said.

Calling himself a true worker of the Bahujan Mission and the Bahujan Movement, Anand said patience and determination are the true companions of an individual in such difficult times.

"I will continue to work with full devotion for the party and the mission and fight for the rights of my society till my last breath, he said. Hitting out at political rivals, he said, "Some people from the rival party are thinking that my political career is over... They should understand that the Bahujan Movement is not a career, but a fight for self-respect and self-esteem of crores of Dalits, exploited, deprived and poor people."

"This is an idea, a movement, which cannot be suppressed. Lakhs of Akash Anands are always ready to keep this torch burning and sacrifice everything for it," he added.
