Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Casts Vote In Local Body Elections In Haryana – WATCH

Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar cast his vote at a polling station in Karnal.

Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was seen voting for local body elections on Sunday morning. The Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs of India at a polling booth in Karnal, after he cast his vote, we showed his finger marked with indelible ink to the media.

The voting began at 8 am and it will continue till 6 pm, according to a Hindustan Times report.

Elections for four municipal councils, 21 municipal committees and seven municipal corporations – Faridabad, Gurugram, Manesar, Hisar, Karnal, Rohtak and Yamunanagar is ongoing.

Additionally, by-elections for mayoral posts are also being held in the municipal corporations of Ambala and Sonipat. A total of 39 candidates are contesting for mayoral posts across eight municipal corporations.

Polling for the Panipat Municipal Corporation will take place on March 9.

According to the Hindustan Times report, in Karnal, 301,915 voters will cast their ballots across 265 polling booths to choose among four candidates for the mayoral post.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Uttam Singh, along with SP Ganga Ram Punia, inspected the polling arrangements to ensure a free and fair election process.

'Congress will not win any seat'

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday said the Congress will not win any seat in the upcoming municipal corporation elections, adding that the opposition party's leaders sitting in "air-conditioned rooms" are detached from the ground realities.

He exuded confidence that the BJP will sweep the civic polls. Saini said that after the formation of the "triple-engine" government, work will be done in Haryana three times faster".

Congress leader and deputy mayor of Ambala Municipal Corporation, Rajesh Mehta, joined the BJP in the presence of CM Saini.

Welcoming Mehta into the party, Saini said that leaders from other parties are joining the BJP after being impressed by the policies and development work undertaken by the BJP government. A number of Congress leaders have joined the BJP in Haryana, especially ahead of the municipal polls, he said. In Karnal, virtually the entire Congress leadership has joined the BJP, Saini said, as per PTI.
