New Delhi: Rob Quiney and Glenn Maxwell slammed scintillating half-centuries as Melbourne Stars made a mockery of the 189-run target set by Hobart Hurricanes to win the match by 7 wickets at Hobart.

Man-of-the-match Rob Quiney played one of his best BBL innings as he notched up 75 off 43 balls with 5 hits to the fence and 5 over them. He was ably supported by Glenn Maxwell, who scored 58 at strike rate of exactly 200, hitting boundaries at will.

Earlier, it was Hurricanes’ captain Tim Paine, who stole the show with his 61 balls 91 run innings to take his side to a respectable 188 at the end of 20 overs.

In reply, the visitors looked well ahead of the game as their openers Quiney and Look Wright raced away with an 88 run partnership in just 8 overs. Wright was finally out for a well made 48 and Quiney was joined by Maxwell.

The duo sent the Hurricanes’ bowlers in a leather hunt with a 73 run partnership.

Melborune Stars reached the target in just 17.4 overs with 7 wickets in their kitty.
