Ahead of ODI series in India, Australia paceman Jhye Richardson has discovered a very unique motivation technique of keeping himself motivated. During the Tests against Sri Lanka, the 22-year-old had written 'KISS' (keep it simple stupid), and 'Ruthless' on his shoe. In an interview with Cricket.com.au, Richardson said that he likes to write something which helps him stay in the contest.

"I get asked a lot about what I write on my shoes and what I had during the Test series," Richardson said.

"It will probably be something that sticks around - just to keep things simple and stay in the contest as much as I can."

The right-arm paceman bagged figures of 3-26 and 2-19 on debut, and now has a very good chance to make it to the Ashes and World Cup squads.

Australia is slated to play against India in T20s on February 24 and 27, before the ODI series starts on March 2. Richardson has a very good chance to cement his place in Aussie squad for the World Cup 2019 in England and Wales,  if he emerges as a key bowler for his side, especially in the absence of injured players Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc.

Recently, Richardson paid a special tribute to his parents after he was inducted into the WACA's Test Player Walk, which features every WA player to have notched a Test.

"(Their) sacrifice has been massive," Richardson said.

"All of the driving around they did for me when I was younger, the days off work - sacrificing their lives for me means a lot.

"I'll be forever grateful."
