Australia Script World Record For Most Runs In A T20I Powerplay During SCO vs AUS Match
Australia etched their name in the history books as they recorded the highest powerplay total ever in a T20 international match during the match against Scotland on September 4 (Wednesday).
Australia shattered records by posting the highest powerplay total in T20I history, amassing 113 runs for the loss of one wicket in just six overs against Scotland at the Grange Cricket Club, Edinburgh on September 4 (Wednesday). Opener Travis Head and captain Mitchell Marsh took Australia past the previous record of most runs in a powerplay in the T20Is held by South Africa on the third ball of the sixth over. This is also only the second time a team has surpassed the hundred-run mark in a T20 international.
Australia lost their opener Jake Fraser-McGurk early in the innings as he got out on a three-ball duck. However, it didn’t stop Head and Marsh to run riot and smash the highest ever powerplay score in the T20I history. Australia surpassed the record previously held by South Africa when they scored 102/0 in six overs against West Indies back in 2023.

Head & Marsh Demolish Scotland In Feral Display Of Batting
Notably, Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh combined for 56 runs in total in the span of just two overs.
Head scored all the 26 runs that Australia got in the last over of the powerplay and in doing so he also achieved a 17-ball fifty. Head scored five boundaries and a six off Scotland’s Brad Wheal’s over.
In the previous over, Head’s batting partner Marsh scored 30 runs off Jack Jarvis’ first over of the match. Marsh scored three boundaries and three sixes in the over that set a platform for the Mighty Aussies to break the highest T20I powerplay record.
