Asia Cup 2025: India-Pakistan May Face Off Thrice

Six teams—India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the UAE—will most likely participate in 2025 edition of Asia Cup tournament.

The Asia Cup 2025 is expected to take place from 5th to 21st September, with a 17-day schedule almost finalized by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

As per early reports, the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 clash is likely to be scheduled for 7th September. The tournament is expected to be hosted in the UAE, and all participating nations are in the process of securing approvals from their respective governments.

Six teams—India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the UAE—will most likely participate in this edition of the tournament.

India-Pakistan Could Clash Thrice

The tournament will follow a group-stage and Super Four format. The six teams will be split into two groups of three, with the top two from each group advancing to the Super Four stage. The final will then be contested by the top two teams from the Super Four.

This format means that India and Pakistan could face each other up to three times:

The first IND-PAK match is expected on 7 September (group stage)

The second IND-PAK could take place on 14 September (Super Four)

If both teams qualify for the final, they’ll meet again on 21 September.

This possibility has been reported by the Times of India, making it a potentially high-voltage tournament for cricket fans across the subcontinent.

Positive Sign for India-Pakistan Cricket

With the Women's ODI World Cup also scheduled in India and Sri Lanka later, the smooth organization of the Asia Cup will be an important sign for bilateral cricketing relations.

India is the official host for Asia Cup 2025. Earlier, there were talks of Pakistan playing all their Asia Cup 2025 matches in Sri Lanka, even in knockout stages, due to strained ties with India. However, fresh reports reveal that India will host the tournament entirely in UAE (hybrid model).

Hosting Duties for Future Asia Cups Finalized

The ACC has reportedly finalized the hosts for the next three Asia Cup editions:

2027 (ODI format): Hosted by Bangladesh

2029 (T20 format): Hosted by Pakistan

2031 (ODI format): Hosted by Sri Lanka

Promotion for the 2025 edition has already begun, with official broadcaster Sony releasing a poster, building anticipation among fans worldwide.
