Samson clears Yo-Yo test with flying colours

Stating that India missed him, Tharoor took to his social media to request BCCI

On April 15, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor appreciated wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson for his IPL performance and expressed that he should be considered for a spot in the Indian team. Post his tweet, a lot happened with the 23-year-old dynamic cricketer from Kerala.

Following his IPL stint with the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2018, Samson was lucky enough to be named in India A squad for the England tour. But failure to clear the Yo-Yo test resulted in his axing from the squad.

He fell way beyond the standard 16.1 mark set by the BCCI and did not board the flight with Shreyas Iyer’s men.

Almost after a month, Samson re-appeared in the test and came with flying colours. Following his success, Tharoor yet again took to his social media and stated, ‘India missed him’.

Here’s the tweet

In a four week’s span, samson returned and passed the test with 17.3 mark. Apart from him, Ambati Rayudu and Mohammed Shami also failed the Yo-Yo test and were withdrawn from one-off Test against Afghanistan and India’s ODI series against England respectively.
