Conor McGregor Announces Presidential Run, Vows To 'Save Ireland Together'

The former mixed martial artist Conor McGregor has announced his bid for Ireland’s 2025 Presidential elections.

Conor McGregor recently declared his intention to run in Ireland’s upcoming Presidential elections on March 21 (Friday). He also outlined his vision for upholding democracy in his homeland if elected to power. The former mixed martial arts fighter urged citizens to vote for him in Ireland’s Presidential elections, promising to "save Ireland together."

The announcement comes merely three days after US President Donald Trump referred to the controversial fighter as his "favourite Irishman" during their meeting at the White House, in Washington, D.C.

McGregor Slams EU Migration Pact, Announces Presidential Bid

The MMA fighter announced his presidential bid on Instagram with a photo of himself standing in front of a private jet, dressed in a vest and holding one of his four children. In a lengthy post, 36-year-old McGregor made his appeal to Irish voters by highlighting his stance on immigration and opposition to the EU migration pact.

Taking to Instagram, McGregor wrote, “Ireland must fully implement the EU Migration Pact by June 12, 2026. So between now and 12 June 2026, several pieces of legislation have to be passed by both Houses of the Oireachtas & then signed by the President. The next presidential election must take place by 11 Nov 2025. Who else will stand up to Government and oppose this bill? Any other Presidential candidate they attempt to put forward will be of no resistance to them. I will!”

“For clarity also, as President, I would put forth this bill to referendum. Although I oppose greatly this pact, it is neither mine nor governments choice to make. It is the people of Irelands choice! Always! That is a true democracy! I would also be curious to hear our government officials reasoning for agreeing with this pact so fervently. I would love to hear the debates! Followed then by vote! This is the future of Ireland with me as President. All citizens of Ireland to have a voice and a choice on their future! God bless our people! Vote McGregor and have your voice heard!”

The UFC star also took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce his presidential run and urged his countrymen to vote for him.

“Ireland, the choice is yours and it is an easy one. Vote for me as your President and we will SAVE IRELAND TOGETHER,” said McGregor in a post on X.
