Commonwealth Games 2022: Priyanka Goswami, Avinash Sable Win Historic Silver In Athletics
Priyanka Goswami won a silver medal in the women's 10,000 meter race walk (walking) while Avinash Sable won the men's 3000 meter steeplechase event.
Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham: Indian players continue to win medals in the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. India's medal account also opened on the ninth day of the Games i.e. Saturday. Athletes Priyanka Goswami and Avinash Sable have clinched silver at CWG 2022. Priyanka won a medal in the women's 10,000 meter race walk (walking) while Avinash won the men's 3000 meter steeplechase event.

Priyanka Goswami recorded a personal best timing to win a silver. She clocked 43:38. Australia's Jemima Montag won the gold with a time of 42:34 and Emily Wamusi Ngi of Kenya won the bronze medal with 43:50. India now has won four medals in the athletics event.
Priyanka became the first Indian woman to win a medal in racewalking. She is also the second Indian player to win a Commonwealth medal in this sport. Earlier, Harminder Singh had won bronze in the 20 km racewalking event of the 2010 Delhi Games.
Before Priyanka and Avinash, Tejaswin Shankar (bronze in high jump) and M Sreeshankar (sliver in long jump) won medals in athletics in the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022.
India is currently at the sixth position in the medal tally of the Commonwealth Games 2022. India has so far won a total of 28 medals, including 9 gold, 10 silver and 9 bronze. India has so far won the most medals in weightlifting. India bagged 10 medals in weightlifting competitions, including three gold, three silver and four bronze.
