BBL: Hurricanes blow away Sixers Photo: Twitter @BBL New Delhi: Hobart Hurricanes displayed a clinical performance to beat Sydney Sixers by 60 runs in front of their home crowd at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Winning the toss, Sixers chose to send the opposition in but the decision backfired as Hurricanes openers Tim Paine and D’Arcy Short send them on a leather hunt. Short scored at a staggering strike rate of 210.34 before being dismissed for 61. Captain Tim Paine carried on with the good work to notch up a nicely paced 63 off 45 balls to guide Hurricanes to the first ever 200 plus score in the sixth edition of the Big Bash League. In, reply the Sixers had a decent beginning but lost their way when Jason Roy gave his wicket away scoring 40 off 22 balls. Former Australia fast bowler Shaun Tait returned with match figures of 3 for 32. Tait impressed with his pace and bounce even though Jason Roy took him for 20 in the first over. Sydney Sixers innings could not advance beyond 140. The highlight of the day belonged to Tait. The speedster uprooted the middle stump and broke the stump-microphone, causing a stoppage of play.
