  • Ashtami ends on October 11, 2024, Saturday, at 12:06 PM.

Navami Date 2024

  • Navami begins on October 11, 2024, Saturday, at 12:06 PM.
  • Navami will last until 10:57 AM on October 12, 2024.

In 2024, during Shardiya Navratri, Mahashtami and Mahanavami will fall on the same day. This means both festivals can be celebrated together on October 11. You can perform the Ashtami puja before 12:06 PM, and after 12:06 PM, you can conduct the Navami puja.

Kanya Pujan 2024

On Mahashtami and Mahanavami, the worship of Kanya (young girls) holds special significance. On this day, nine young girls are worshipped, invited to the home, and offered food and gifts. After receiving their blessings, they are sent off. Doing so is believed to invoke the grace of Maa Durga and receive her blessings. According to Hinduism, on Mahanavami, Goddess Durga defeated the wicked demon Mahishasura.

Kanya Pujan 2024 Procedure

  • On this day, perform the Kanya Puja with all the rituals and customs.
  • Clean the puja room thoroughly.
  • Invite the young girls to your home with respect.
  • Wash their feet and tie a kalava on their wrists.
  • Light a ghee lamp in front of Mata Rani.
  • Light incense and a lamp, and perform the aarti for the Goddess.
  • Offer prasad as a sacred food to the Goddess.
  • It is considered auspicious to offer halwa, chickpeas, and puri as prasad to the Goddess.
