Spiritual Significance:

The day holds special significance for women, who observe the fast seeking marital bliss, child-related blessings, and overall well-being of their household.

Rituals To Follow On This Day:

The ritual has a distinct method of worship. Devotees begin their day with a morning bath and wear clean clothes, preferably in red or pink. An image or idol of Santoshi Mata is placed in the home’s place of worship. The goddess is offered gur (jaggery) and chana (roasted gram), which are considered highly beloved to her.

Lighting a lamp, devotees read or listen to the Santoshi Mata Vrat Katha and pray for peace and contentment in their lives. After the prayers, aarti is performed, and gur-chana is distributed as prasad among those present. Those who fast on this day are to consume only gur and chana, avoiding sour foods such as curd, tamarind, and lemon, as these are believed to displease the goddess.

Non-vegetarian food, garlic, onion, and other tamsik (impure) foods must also be strictly avoided. Worshipping Santoshi Mata with faith and restraint is said to bring inner peace, improve family relationships, and invite both mental and financial contentment.

When performed with true devotion and service, the Santoshi Mata Vrat is believed to remove life’s sorrows and open the path to happiness and prosperity.
