Snan-Daan Mahayog: Bath And Charity Rituals

On this sacred Kalashtami, offering jalebi (a sweet) to the needy is believed to please Lord Bhairav. It is also considered auspicious to donate black-colored items. However, since Kalashtami falls on a Tuesday this year, caution is advised. Donating black items on a Tuesday may invite the negative influence of planet Mars (Mangal).

Significance Of Kalashtami:

Kalashtami is believed to be an auspicious time for worshipping Lord Kaal Bhairav, a fierce form of Lord Shiva. Devotees believe that offering prayers, performing charitable acts, and engaging in spiritual practices on this day can bring peace, prosperity, and protection from negative energies.

Auspicious Acts And Rituals:

  • Snan-Daan Mahayog: Feeding sweets like jalebi to the needy pleases Lord Bhairav.
  • Offer black urad dal (125 grams) at a Bhairav temple. Tie 11 of these lentils in a black cloth and keep them in your workplace or safe — a ritual believed to enhance business growth.
  • Donating black items is generally considered beneficial on Kalashtami, but since this falls on a Tuesday, such donations may trigger malefic effects from planet Mars.

Things To Avoid On Kalashtami:

  • Refrain from consuming non-vegetarian food, alcohol, or anything tamsic (impure).
  • Avoid disrespecting anyone or speaking lies.
  • Do not initiate major projects during the Panchak period as it is believed to bring failure or obstacles.
