Hariyali Teej 2025: As the holy month of Sawan begins, Hariyali Teej brings with it devotion, tradition, and celebration. Observed by Hindu women across India, this festival is a symbol of love, marital harmony, and spiritual devotion. Falling on the Tritiya of the Shukla Paksh in Sawan, this sacred fast is dedicated to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiv. Women pray for the long life of their husbands and a blissful married life, while unmarried girls also observe the fast to seek a suitable life partner.

Spiritual Importance Of Hariyali Teej 2025

According to Hindu belief, Hariyali Teej marks the divine reunion of Lord Shiv and Goddess Parvati after her long penance. Observing this vrat with full faith is said to bless married women with a long and happy married life. Unmarried girls who worship Lord Shiv and Goddess Parvati on this day are believed to receive the blessings of a desirable and virtuous life partner.

Wearing green sarees, green bangles, and performing solah shringar are considered auspicious, as green symbolises fertility, growth, and prosperity during the monsoon.

Puja Vidhi For Hariyali Teej 2025 At Home

If you're planning to perform the puja at home, here's a simple guide:

  • Wake up early and take a holy bath. Light a ghee lamp in your home temple and take a vow to observe the fast.
  • Follow a nirjala vrat (no food or water).
  • Dress in traditional attire with green clothes and complete solah shringar.
  • Clean the puja space, apply cow dung if possible, and sprinkle Ganga jal to purify the area.
  • Decorate a chowki with an idol or picture of Lord Shiv and Goddess Parvati. If possible, create idols using clean clay or sand.
  • Perform abhishek of Shiv with Ganga jal and Panchamrit. Offer makeup items to Goddess Parvati.
  • Use bel leaves, dhatura, betel nut, rice, sweets, fruits, and flowers during the puja.
  • Read the Hariyali Teej vrat katha and perform the aarti.
  • The next morning, immerse the idols and offerings in a river or clean water source to complete the ritual.
