Veruthini Ekadashi 2025: The auspicious day of Veruthini Ekadashi Vrat will be observed on April 24. This falls during the month of Vaishakh, a period of great religious importance in Hinduism. The combination of Vaishakh month and Ekadashi is considered extremely auspicious for performing religious and spiritual practices. On this day, devotees observe fasts in honor of Lord Vishnu and also donate seasonal fruits such as mangoes, watermelon, and melons.

Auspicious Timings And Rituals:

According to Jyotishacharya and tarot card reader Neetika Sharma, the Ekadashi tithi will begin on April 23 at 4:44 PM and end on April 24 at 2:31 PM. Since the fast should ideally be observed on the day when the tithi is present during sunrise, Varuthini Ekadashi fast will be kept on April 24.

Why Is Varuthini Ekadashi Observed?

Varuthini Ekadashi is also known as Vaishakh Ekadashi. The word “Varuthini” means “protected,” and it is believed that those who observe this fast receive protection from negative energies. People fast on this day to seek blessings from the deities and gain spiritual merit.

On this day, consumption of meat, alcohol, and all tamasic and intoxicating substances is strictly prohibited. Even those not observing the fast should refrain from consuming rice. One should also avoid anger and harsh words, and maintain celibacy during the Ekadashi period for spiritual purity.

Auspicious Activities To Perform On Varuthini Ekadashi:

• Wake up early and take a holy bath.
• Offer water to the Sun using a copper vessel.
• Worship Lord Ganesha by bathing the idol with water and Panchamrit (a mixture of milk, yogurt, honey, sugar, and ghee), adorning him with clothes and flowers, applying sandalwood paste, and offering Durva grass and laddoos.
• After Ganesha puja, worship Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Perform their abhishek using Dakshinavarti Shankh (a special conch) with milk, and decorate with garlands and clothes.
• Offer sweets with Tulsi leaves and chant “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya.” Perform aarti with incense and lamps.
• Since the day also falls on a Saturday, it is considered auspicious to worship Lord Shani (Saturn). Visit a Shani temple, offer oil, blue flowers, black sesame seeds, and blue clothes. Offer dishes made from sesame and donate oil, shoes, or slippers to the needy.
• Worship Lord Shiva by offering water, Bilva leaves, Datura, and Akanda flowers. Apply sandalwood paste on the Shivling, offer sweets, light a lamp, and chant the name of Lord Rama.
