Steve Smith To Pull Out Of IPL 2021? Here's What Michael Clarke Said

The players' auction for the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) took place in Chennai on 18 February.

While Australian cricketers like Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson secured huge money in Thursday's auction, Aussie star player Steve Smith was acquired by Delhi Capitals for just 2.2 crores.

Even Australia's uncapped Riley Meredith managed to gain more money than Smith in the IPL 2021 auction as he was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 8 crore.

Apart from Steve Smith, Delhi capitals secured the services of Umesh Yadav for his base price of one crore rupees. Delhi also acquired brilliant all-rounder Tom Curran for 5.25 crores.

"For him (Steve Smith) to go away for an eight-week tournament and quarantine before the tournament starts, call it 11 weeks. I don’t think he is going to give up 11 weeks away from his family and his partner for $380,000,” Michael Clarke  opined.
