Awaited by cricket fans worldwide, Hardik Pandya's return prompted a cautious approach from the BCCI and NCA. Recognizing the importance of future T20 World Cup cycles in 2024 and 2026, they prioritised a comprehensive rehabilitation plan over rushing his comeback for bilateral fixtures.

News18 reported that Hardik Pandya is presently engaged in an 18-week high-performance program tailored exclusively for him. Designed by the NCA, this regimen covers aspects of fitness like cardio, strength, functional training, and importantly, prioritises ample rest and recovery.

The BCCI and NCA have employed a familiar strategy, seen previously with players like Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul during their injury periods. These personalised programs highlight a commitment to long-term goals.

It is understood that Hardik Pandya's current injury isn't linked to his past back problem that led to surgery in 2019.

Opting out of the upcoming T20Is against Afghanistan is a strategic move. Rather than emphasising match-specific skills, the current plan prioritises overall fitness standards, aiming for Hardik Pandya's return to be sustainable.

Since June 2022, India have participated in 55 T20Is, and Pandya has been part of 38 of those matches. In ODIs, he's played 23 out of 50 games. These figures highlight Pandya's crucial role in the team, emphasising the significance of his fitness for cricketing authorities.
