Nirmala Sitharaman stated that India and the United States are working together to build a strong, peaceful, and harmonious global community. Her remarks came during her visit to Washington for the spring meeting of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank. "When we celebrate diversity, when we celebrate inclusiveness, it is also the point that we share a lot of positive thoughts," she said.

During her visit, Sitharaman attended the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) 2023 Spring Meetings, as well as G20 meetings, Investor/Bilateral meetings, and other associated meetings.

Nirmala Sitharaman was captured with Gina Raimondo, the United States Secretary of Commerce, at an event.

During her week-long visit, Sitharaman also spoke at a seminar in Washington DC titled 'India's Digital Public Infrastructure - Stacking Up the Benefits.'

During the plenary meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee at the IMF Headquarters, the union finance minister was photographed with World Bank President David Malpass.

The Union Finance Minister, along with RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, presided over a meeting of G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors in Washington, DC.

On the margins of the 2023 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, the second meeting of G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) was held on 12-13 April 2023, under the Indian G20 Presidency.

Sitharaman also met with Gita Gopinath, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), on the sidelines of the World Bank-IMF Spring Meetings 2023.
