Heavy Snowfall Continues in J&K and Ladakh, IMD Warns of More Snow in Next 24 Hours
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh warning of continued snowfall over the next 24 hours across parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Visuals from Drass show the region completely blanketed in a thick white sheet of snow, highlighting the intensity of the ongoing snowfall. Scenic locations such as Gulmarg and Sonmarg are witnessing heavy snow accumulation, transforming the region into a winter wonderland. Gulmarg, a major tourist destination, is fully covered in snow, drawing attention for its breathtaking visuals despite the harsh weather conditions. Similar scenes are emerging from Sonmarg, where snowfall continues unabated. While higher-altitude areas are experiencing heavy snow, plains across north India are facing a double impact of dense fog and severe cold wave conditions. Several regions have reported a sharp drop in temperatures, making daily life difficult for residents. Poor visibility due to fog has also affected road movement, causing inconvenience to commuters and travelers. Authorities have advised people to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas, and follow weather advisories closely. The situation is being continuously monitored as weather conditions are expected to remain challenging in the coming days.
