Renowned filmmaker Rono Mukherjee, a towering figure in the Mukherjee-Samarth clan and the creative mind behind films like Haiwan (1977) and Tu Hi Meri Zindagi (1965), passed away due to cardiac arrest on May 28 in Mumbai. He was in his 80s. Rono was the eldest among the illustrious Mukherjee brothers and a pivotal figure in the cultural and cinematic legacy of Bollywood.

His passing marks another deep loss for the Mukherjee family, coming just over two months after the demise of his brother, actor Deb Mukherjee. As news of his death spread, members of Bollywood’s most respected families gathered to honour the late filmmaker’s memory.
