'Ready To Serve': Kamala Harris' Tweet After Swearing-In As First Indian-Origin US Vice-President
Kamala Harris as US Vice President: Kamala Harris has shattered many a glass ceiling. She is the first woman as VP, she's also the black woman and first woman of South-East Asian origin to be in the position.
US Inauguration 2021: 20th January 2021 will forever be etched in history books as Kamala Harris took oath to become first female US Vice President. This is not the only ceiling that Kamala Harris broke, she is also the first US Vice-President having South East Asian heritage and also the first US Vice President of colour.
With so many firsts, the new US Vice-President showed that it is just the beginning. In her first tweet, from the account @VP, Kamala showed her intent as she wrote: "Ready to serve"

Kamala Harris' Twitter bio is also describing all things first. In a cute manner, the bio describes her as "Wife to the first Second Gentleman". Harris is married to Doug Emhoff, who is a prominent lawyer.
Kamala Harris has been a senator from the state of California for the past four years. She has also served as San Francisco's first female district attorney and was California's first woman of colour to be elected as an Attorney General.
The US Vice-President serves as the President of Senate. VP can cast vote in a tie-breaking situation in the 100-member chamber.
Ms Harris is the daughter of immigrant parents. Her mother was of Indian origin, Tamil Nadu, and had migrated to the US while her father was from Jamaica.
