Israeli PM Netanyahu Discharged From Hospital After Experiencing Dehydration-Induced Dizziness

Netanyahu was brought to the hospital by a convoy from his Caesarea home in the north of Israel where he was spending the weekend.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was discharged from the hospital on Sunday after he was admitted for dehydration the previous day. Doctors said he was in good health, as per news agency Reuters. Netanyahu, 73, was taken to Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer, near his private residence in coastal Caesarea, and kept overnight under observation. His motor convoy was seen leaving Sheba as Israeli media reported his office as saying that he had been discharged, as per Reuters' report.

In a video statement on Saturday, a smiling Netanyahu wearing a blazer said that he had holidayed at the Sea of Galilee without properly protecting himself from a heatwave.

"Yesterday I spent some time at the Kinneret with my wife, in the sun, without a hat and without water. Not a good idea," the premier explained, as per quoted by news agency PTI. Thanking the medical staff at the hospital as well as the public for their concern, the premier said he was thankful to God and feeling very good.

The initial assessment mentioned dehydration as the cause behind the dizziness he experienced. Netanyahu was brought to the hospital by a convoy from his Caesarea home in the north of Israel where he was spending the weekend.

The Israeli Prime Minister was said to be fully conscious and walking without assistance when he arrived at the hospital, PTI reported.

Sheba on Sunday confirmed the original diagnosis of dehydration and said additional tests including a subcutaneous holter had found Netanyahu to be "in complete cardiac health", Reuters reported.

Israel's weekly cabinet meeting, usually held on Sunday, was postponed to Monday, his office said.

Netanyahu is Israel's longest-serving premier.
