Imran Khan To 'Forcefully' Raise Kashmir Issue At UNGA: Pakistan Foreign Minister

Talking to reporters in Islamabad, Qureshi said Prime Minister Khan will also hold bilateral meetings and attend other events in New York on the sidelines of UN General Assembly session.

New Delhi: Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday said that Imran Khan will “forecefully” raise the Kashmir issue before the international community during his address at the United Nations General Assembly next month in New York. "Prime Minister Khan will forcefully present sentiments of Kashmiris during his address to the UN General Assembly next month," Qureshi said. Talking to reporters in Islamabad, Qureshi said Prime Minister Khan will also hold bilateral meetings and attend other events in New York on the sidelines of UN General Assembly session. Responding to a question on Fawad Chaudhary’s Tuesday statement where he claimed that Pakistan will introduce a total airspace closure for India, he said that so far no decision was taken on it. However, the country's civil aviation authority said on Wednesday that Pakistan has closed three aviation routes of Karachi airspace from August 28 to 31. The ban will affect all international flights using the three routes above Karachi. It further provides pilots with an alternate route to circumnavigate Karachi airspace. India has asserted that scrapping of Article 370 of the Constitution that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir was an internal matter. India has also categorically rejected any third party mediation on the matter. In his address to the nation on Monday, Prime Minister Khan said he will raise the Kashmir issue at every international forum, including at the UN General Assembly.
