Canada Temple Attack: Police Arrest Fourth Accused In Pro-Khalistani Attack

Canadian police have made a fourth arrest in connection with the pro-Khalistani attack on Hindu devotees at a temple in Brampton.

The Canadian police have made a fourth arrest in connection with the pro-Khalistani attack on Hindu devotees at a temple in Brampton, said officials on Sunday. 

The Peel Regional Police arrested Inderjeet Gosal (35) of Brampton and charged him with assault with a weapon, it said in a press release. He was released on conditions and is supposed to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. 

"One of the individuals has since been identified as 35-year-old Inderjeet Gosal of Brampton. On November 8, 2024, he was arrested and charged with Assault with a Weapon. He was released on conditions and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at a later date," the release stated. 

On November 4, a pro-Khalistani mob holding a demonstration near the Hindu Sabha temple to mark the 40th anniversary of the Sikh riots stormed the temple and attacked Hindu devotees as tensions escalated into violence.

The police said a Strategic Investigative Team has been formed which is probing the incident and said "complex investigations" such as these take time. It also clarified the individuals have been arrested as they are identified and in no specific order. 

"Investigators continue to analyze hundreds of videos of the incidents and are working to identify additional suspects involved in criminality and anticipate further arrests," the police stated. 

Following the attack, a massive protest erupted outside the temple on November 4 which was declared unlawful after weapons were spotted among the crowd. An Indian-origin man Ranendra Lal Banerjee, 57 was arrested for inciting hate during the protests. 

Arrest warrants were also issued for two more men, Armaan Gahlot, 24, of Kitchener, and Arpit, 22, of no fixed address. The duo were charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, conspiracy to commit assaults with a weapon, and conspiracy to commit mischief.
