New Delhi: Was Lord Hanuman married? According to a viral message in social media, Lord Hanuman married daughter of the son Suvarchala and there is also a temple built of the two.
This image is spreading like fire in social media.
Hanuman is an ardent devotee of Lord Rama and is one of the central figures in the Hindu epic Ramayana. As one of the Chiranjivi, he is also mentioned in several other texts, including the Mahabharata, the various Puranas and some Jain texts.
Hanuman took part in Rama's war against the demon king Ravana and several later texts also present him as an incarnation of Shiva. He is the son of Anjana and Kesari. He is also described as the son of the wind-god Pawan, who according to several stories, played a role in his birth.
According to a viral message along with the photo, when Lord Hanuman approached Lord Surya to learn lore, Surya said that it can be taught only to grahastha (married man) and not to a celibate like Hanuman. When Lord Hanuman insisted that he want to learn, Lord Surya married his daughter Suvarchala with him.
It is being said that a temple of two is located in Andhra Pradesh's Khammam (Khammam was part of AP before its partition).

However, the temple was built in 2006 and it is not an ancient one as is claimed in the viral message.
Hence, we find out that Lord Hanuman did marry but he never entered grihastha ashram (householder ashram).
