Strong Ties Between India, Germany Based On Shared Democratic Values Of Each Other's Interests: PM Modi

In a joint press meet at Hyderabad House in Delhi, PM Modi said that the strong ties between India and Germany are based on shared democratic values of each other's interests.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that the strong ties between India and Germany are based on shared democratic values of each other's interests. In a joint press meet at Hyderabad House in Delhi, PM Modi said, apart from being our largest trading partner in Europe, Germany is also an important source of investment in India.

"Apart from being our largest trading partner in Europe, Germany is also an important source of investment in India. The strong ties between India and Germany are based on shared democratic values of each other's interests," PM Modi said during the press meet.

PM Modi also said, "India and Germany's relationship is based on the deep understanding between the two countries. We have a history of trade exchange. Germany is our biggest trading partner in Europe." During the press meet PM Modi hailed Make In India campaign and said, new opportunities are opening up today in all sectors due to the 'Make in India' and Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign.

"People-to-people relations have greatly improved between the two countries, in last few years. Today, new opportunities are opening up in all sectors due to the 'Make in India' & Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign. We're encouraged by Germany's interest in these opportunities" PM Modi said.

Speaking on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, PM Modi said, since the beginning of developments in Ukraine, India has laid emphasis on resolving this dispute through dialogue and diplomacy. Security and defense cooperation can become an important pillar of our strategic partnership," PM Modi said.

Speaking at the joint press meet German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that alot has changed since his last visit to India and India is developing. Speaking on India's G20 presidency, Scholz said, I am pleased that India has the presidency of G20 this year. "A lot has changed since I visited India last time. India is indeed developing. I and PM Modi have similar ideas. We have been cooperative; we have been discussing matters. I am pleased that India has the presidency of G20 this year," Olaf Scholz said.

Earlier, Modi received Scholz at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the German leader was accorded a ceremonial welcome. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi in a tweet said Scholz's visit is an opportunity to further deepen the multifaceted India-Germany strategic partnership.  

PM Modi and Olaf Scholz held wide-ranging talks with a focus on boosting the bilateral ties in the areas of clean energy, trade and new technologies
