Security Forces Foil Infiltration Bid From Pakistan, Take Down 2 Terrorists In Kupwara

Jammu and Kashmir police and Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district.

At least two terrorists were killed after Jammu and Kashmir police and the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid from Pakistan along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Saturday. According to the police, the infiltration attempt took place in the Kumkadi area of the Machil sector in the north Kashmir district.

"Based on an intelligence input provided by Kupwara Police, in a joint operation carried by Army and police in Kumkadi area of Machal sector, two infiltrating terrorists have been killed so far," Kupwara Police said in a post on X. The operation is still underway, the police said.

So far, two AK rifles, four AK magazines, 90 rounds, a Pakistani pistol, a pouch and Rs 2,100 in Pakistani currency have been recovered from the encounter site, they said.

Earlier this month, a militant targeted a moving vehicle of security forces in the Khanyar area of Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar but failed to afflict any injuries. The lone militant fired shots from his pistol, aiming at a CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) vehicle in the vicinity of Khwaja Bazaar chowk at approximately 7:00 pm, news agency PTI reported officials as saying.

Following the attack, the perpetrator hastily retreated from the scene. There were no casualties or injuries resulting from the incident. Srinagar Police provided details, stating, "There was an attempted attack by a pistol-wielding terrorist on a BP vehicle of CRPF in Khanyar area, which was repelled by alert personnel.

The terrorist was chased away by personnel, who exhibited wise restraint due to the potential for collateral damage. No injuries to life or property have been reported."
