Congress Can't Stand Seeing Dalits Rise, Abuses OBCs In Name Of Targeting Modi: PM In Chhattisgarh

PM Narendra Modi said that the people of Chhattisgarh have decided to "not tolerate Congress' atrocities anymore", accusing the Bhupesh Baghel-led government of being "steeped in corruption."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that 'parivartan' (change) is finalised in Chhattisgarh, stressing that the voters are ready to "remove Congress from power and bring the BJP" crediting the saffron party's Parivartan Yatra for creating a mood for change. "The BJP, whether it is in power in the Centre or the state, has always been committed to the development of Chhattisgarh," he told the gathering, accusing the Bhupesh Baghel-led government of being "steeped in corruption."

In a veiled attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, PM Modi commented that the Congress cannot stand seeing a man from a backward community become the Prime Minister and hence, it "abuses OBCs in the name of targeting Modi". The statement was in reference to the defamation trial faced by the former Congress president for comment on Modi surname in the 2019 election campaign.

"Congress hates Dalits, Schedule Tribes, OBCs. The court punishes (Rahul Gandhi) for abusing someone, but they are not ready to improve," he remarked. The Prime Minister went on to stress that his government gave India its first Dalit and Tribal Presidents which was "opposed" by the grand old party.

"The Congress can't stand seeing Dalits, STs, and OBCs rising. Only those who bow to a particular family can grow (in the party)," he said.

Mounting an attack on the Bhupesh Baghel-led dispensation, he said, "Change is finalised in Chhattisgarh. The excitement seen here is the declaration of change. People of Chhattisgarh have decided to not tolerate Congress' atrocities anymore".

"You (people of Chhattisgarh) all are ready to remove Congress from power and bring the BJP," he added while also slamming the Congress government saying,
"Chhattisgarh is steeped in corruption and misrule. There is a scam in every scheme (in Congress government)".

"It is my guarantee that your dreams are my resolution... Your dreams will be fulfilled only when there is a BJP government here. No matter how many efforts we make from Delhi, the Congress here fails those efforts. In the last five years, Chhattisgarh got thousands of crores of rupees here. Roads, rail, electricity, and various other development projects, we did not keep any scarcity of money for the state. Deputy Chief Minister said this is a public gathering," the Prime Minister said.

"In public life, realities cannot be hidden. If the Deputy Chief Minister says that Delhi does no injustice, this should have been a matter of happiness for all, but Congress had a hurricane. The Indian government approved infrastructure in Chhattisgarh projects worth thousands of crores. They are either halted or delayed," he added.

PM Modi assured that "stern action" will be taken against those found guilty in alleged Public Service Commission scam case if BJP forms government in Chhattisgarh. He also committed that if BJP comes to power in Chhattisgarh, the first cabinet decision will be to provide pucca houses to every poor person.

"During the Congress rule, Rs. 300 crores were allocated for the railways. But this year, the BJP has given Rs. 6000 crores... This is 'Modi Model', this is my love for Chhattisgarh. This is my commitment to Chhattisgarh's development. We are trying to electrify the railway tracks as soon as possible... It is the BJP who gave modern Vande Bharat train to Chhattisgarh," he said, highlighting his government's commitment to the state.

The Prime Minister was addressing the 'Parivartan Mahasankalp' rally at the concluding ceremony of two 'Parivartan Yatras' of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in poll-bound Chhattisgarh. As per PTI, this is PM Modi's third such visit to the Congress-ruled state.

BJP had taken out two Parivaratan Yatras in the state. The first yatra was taken out from Dantewada (south Chhattisgarh) on September 12, the second one was rolled out from Jashpur (north Chhattisgarh) on September 15. As per state BJP chief, both the yatras saw 83 'Swagat Sabhas' (welcome gatherings), four roadshows and various public meetings before culminating at Bilaspur, covering a distance of more than 3,000 km across 87 assembly segments (out of the total 90).

Bijapur, Sukma, and Antagarh constituencies (all Maoist-affected) were not included in the itinerary, but people of these regions were engaged in the yatra when it passed through the adjoining constituencies, he said.

In the 2018 assembly elections, the Congress had thwarted the BJP from power with a massive mandate and won 68 constituencies and while the BJP managed only 5. The state will go to polls later this year along with Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Mizoram.
