Row Over Security Circular: Katni SP Expresses Regret, Says ‘Strict Disciplinary Action’ Against Clerk

The Superintendent of Police said that a show-cause notice has been issued to the clerk concerned for this error.

Katni (Madhya Pradesh): Expressing regret over a security circular signed by him in which the Sikhs and Muslims have been kept in the category of terrorists, Katni Superintendent of Police Sunil Jain has said it is a clerical error and added strict disciplinary action will be taken against the clerk.

The Superintendent of Police said that a show-cause notice has been issued to the clerk concerned for this error.

“It is a clerical error. I have issued a show-cause notice to the clerk concerned,” ANI quoted Jain as saying.

“Strict disciplinary action will be taken against the clerk. I express regret over this error. We had no intentions to hurt the sentiments of any community,” he added.

In the instructions issued in the security circular, it is written in column number 6 that “strict vigil should be kept on Sikhs, Muslims, JKLF, ULFA, SIMI and LTTE terrorists”.

The Opposition Congress in Madhya Pradesh has demanded action against the Katni Superintendent of Police for this mistake.
