Paswan calls Interim Budget 'second surgical strike'

"Has anybody ever thought of such a big step for farmers?"

New Delhi: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan called the Interim Budget 2019-20 the "second surgical strike" by the NDA government and said the opposition leaders looked "despondent". "The first surgical strike occurred on the border. Jawans fought it with bullets. Here, we will fight with ballots. People will decide that the NDA wins 400 seats. Narendra Modiji will be the Prime Minister (again)," he told reporters outside Parliament. "Has anybody ever thought of such a big step for farmers?" he asked. Equating the Budget with cricket, Paswan said it was "a sixer" and the opposition would not be able "to find the ball" until the Lok Sabha elections. Interim Budget 2019 has a great news for farmers, as the government has announced a political bhramsatra by declaring structural income support for small farmers with land lesser than 2 hectre. As per the latest announcement made in the interim budget, small farmers will get income support of Rs 6000 per year. This support price will be transferred in accounts of farmers in 3 equal installments of Rs 2000 each. Interim Finance Minister further declared that the policy has already been implemented and came into play on December 2018, therefore the farmers are set to receive their 1st installment any time soon.
