'Nishikant Dubey's Allegation A Lie': Congress, CPI(M) Slam BJP MP For Seeking Probe Into Danish Ali's Conduct

The Congress and CPI(M) slammed the BJP as MP Nishikant Dubey accused BSP's Danish Ali of provoking Ramesh Bidhuri during his LS address and insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Parliament in its five-day special session was witness to a contentious exchange of words between MPs, leading to swift reactions from political figures across the spectrum. The Congress and CPI(M) slammed the BJP as its MP Nishikant Dubey called for an investigation into the alleged comments of BSP's Danish Ali, who faced derogatory remarks from the saffron party's Ramesh Bidhuri in Lok Sabha. Dubey accused Ali of provoking Ramesh Bidhuri during his address and insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate was critical of Nishikant Dubey's claims, highlighting his past remarks and questioning his credibility. She told news agency PTI, "To his (BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri) defense has come the most vocal voices against women, somebody like Nishikant Dubey who called his own parliamentary colleague 'Vaishali ki nagar vadhu' and the other gentleman who was recently found blabbering on Anantnag, he did not even know the supreme sacrifice made by our brave soldiers. This is classic BJP and which is why we believe that what Ramesh Bidhuri said in Parliament is just an extension of what the RSS and BJP teach you."

CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat also weighed in on the matter, asserting that Nishikant Dubey's allegations were unfounded. She stressed that what transpired with Danish Ali was akin to "verbal lynching" and argued that strict legal action should be taken. She stated, "Nishikant Dubey's allegation is a lie. Everyone knows what happened with BSP MP Danish Ali was verbal lynching. The way people are lynched on the roads, this is a verbal lynching in the parliament. Strict action as per the law is to make an arrest. We believe that no MP has such a privilege to do verbal lynching, use such foul words against another MP just because he belongs to a particular religion."

"People like Brij Bhushan and now this Bhidhuri are representing the BJP, what sort of message is being sent out," she told news agency ANI.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut told reports, "One Lok Sabha member calls another MP a terrorist and extremist. He goes further and makes comments on his religion and caste. Had such foul language been used by any opposition MP, my stand would have been the same."

"The rules of Parliament must be the same for everyone. You suspend (AAP MPs) Raghav Chaddha and Sanjay Singh as well as Rajni Patel and Congress' Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury but send a mere notice to Bidhuri," the Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP questioned, as quoted by PTI.

BJP Accuses Danish Ali Of Insulting PM Modi, BSP MP Responds

Nishikant Dubey demanded an investigation into Danish Ali's purported conduct during Ramesh Bidhuri's speech in Lok Sabha. Dubey accused Ali of offering a running commentary during Bidhuri's address and making unsavory remarks aimed at provoking him to lose his composure. He also alleged that Ali made an objectionable comment against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, news agency PTI reported.

Dubey also condemned Bidhuri's comments, stating that they could not be justified by any decent society. However, he suggested that Danish Ali's actions should also be probed, citing Lok Sabha rules that prohibit obstructing another MP during their allotted time and speaking while seated.

In his letter, he claimed that TMC and DMK members also made comments about the faith of another community.

Nishikant Dubey urged the Speaker to constitute an "Inquiry Committee" to investigate the statements made by various MPs during the discussion and determine the extent of culpability of other Parliament members in instigating citizens through their comments in the House, as per PTI.

Bidhuri's offensive remarks had previously drawn condemnation from Speaker Om Birla and his own party, resulting in a show-cause notice, as per sources cited by PTI. Opposition parties, including Congress, TMC, and NCP, have rallied behind Danish Ali, calling for action against Bidhuri.

Dubey, a prominent BJP figure in Lok Sabha, argued that the issue of breach of privilege raised by Ali and other MPs should not be considered in isolation, as doing so could lead to a miscarriage of justice.

"I, therefore, request you to constitute an 'Inquiry Committee' to investigate the utterances made by various members during the said discussion and also to inquire the extent of culpability of various other members of Parliament in instigating our citizens by way of their comments made in the House," he wrote to the Speaker, as quoted by PTI.

Meanwhile, in response, Danish Ali took to X and defended himself saying, "Today some BJP leaders are trying to run a narrative that I provoked Shri Ramesh Biduri in the Parliament, whereas the truth is that I tried to protect the prime minister's dignity and urged the Chair to expunge from the House's records highly objectionable words used about Modi ji."

With his post, he shared a short video of the BJP MP citing derogatory words used by rivals for the prime minister before abusing the BSP member.

BJP MP Harnath Singh Yadav has also written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla over the alleged derogatory remarks by the BSP MP.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Shazia Ilmi, condemning her party colleague Bidhuri, also sought to bring attention to Danish Ali's alleged misconduct by saying, "Look at the kind of language used by Danish Ali against PM Modi calling him 'neech, neecha kahin ka, neech jaati ka insaan' when the microphones were muted, but it was within the earshot of other parliamentarians. Ravi Kishan has also come out with a statement when he clearly says that he has not just attacked him personally but also his family, and not once but many times."

The remark is in reference to a letter by BJP MP Ravi Kishan who urged Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to "examine the unparliamentary act and use of words" by BSP legislator Danish Ali.
