Rahul Gandhi Summoned By Lucknow Court For 'Remarks Against Indian Army'

The Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha has been asked to appear before the Lucknow MP MLA court in March.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been summoned by a Lucknow court in connection with his alleged remarks against the Indian Army during his countrywide 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'.

The Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha has been asked to appear before the Lucknow MP MLA court in March.

The summons was issued to the Congress MP by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Alok Verma, for the alleged statements regarding the army. The Congress leader has been directed to present his side on the next hearing scheduled for March 24.

The development comes after Uday Shankar Srivastava, former Director of Border Road Organization (BRO), filed a complaint against Gandhi on the basis of which a case was registered, the report said.

The complainant's lawyer, Vivek Tiwari, informed the court that on December 16, 2022, during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi made a controversial statement before the media. However, the army had criticised the Congress leader's statements.

The complainant further said that Rahul Gandhi's "false statement" had led people to "question and mock army officers," according to Dainik Jagran.
