Champions Trophy 2025: From Jasprit Bumrah To Mitchell Starc, List Of Players Set To Miss CT 2025

With the Champions Trophy 2025 fast approaching, here's a look at some big names that are set to miss the ICC event in Pakistan.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place from February 19 to March 9 across Pakistan and Dubai, is set to captivate cricket fans worldwide. While all participating teams have tried gathering their best squad for the ICC event, some teams will be without the services of their key players, potentially hampering their chances of winning the mega event.

Several high-profile players from top cricketing nations have been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Here's a look at all the players who have been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025:

List Of Players Confirmed To Miss ICC Champions Trophy 2025

1. Jasprit Bumrah (India)

India's ace fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 due to a lower back injury sustained during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). Renowned for his deadly yorkers and wicket-taking ability, his absence is a significant blow to India's pace attack, leaving the team short on experience in the fast-bowling department.

2. Pat Cummins (Australia)

Australian skipper Pat Cummins, who led the team to the 2023 ODI World Cup, will miss the Champions Trophy after sustaining an ankle injury following the IND vs AUS BGT series. Cummins’ absence came as a major blow for Australia, prompting Cricket Australia to appoint Steve Smith as captain for the tournament.

3. Mitchell Marsh (Australia)

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has also been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 due to a lower back injury concern. His back issues have plagued him for some time, forcing him to miss the final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. As a potential replacement, Australia may turn to young all-rounder Cooper Connolly, who is traveling with the squad as a reserve.

4. Josh Hazlewood (Australia)

A key pillar of Australia’s pace attack, Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out due to a hip injury sustained during the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Jhye Richardson replaced him during the series, but Hazlewood has since struggled to recover from a lingering calf strain. Ben Dwarshuis, named in Australia's Champions Trophy squad, is expected to step up to fill the void.

5. Mitchell Starc (Australia)

Star Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc is the latest to join the list of Australian players to miss the upcoming ICC event. He has withdrawn from the Champions Trophy, citing personal reasons. As a result, the team will now rely on the likes of Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis and Sean Abbott to lead the bowling unit alongside a strong spin attack.

6. Anrich Nortje (South Africa)

South Africa too have suffered a major blow as fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 due to persistent injuries. All-rounder Corbin Bosch, who made his ODI debut in December 2024, has been named as Nortje’s replacement and will be tasked with bolstering South Africa’s pace attack.

7. Jacob Bethell (England)

England’s young batting all-rounder Jacob Bethell has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy after suffering a hamstring injury during the recent ODI series against India in Nagpur. Skipper Jos Buttler confirmed his absence, though an official replacement is yet to be named. However, wicketkeeper-batter Tom Banton, who replaced Bethell in the ODI series, is likely to fill his spot in the Champions Trophy squad as well.

8. Saim Ayub (Pakistan)

Pakistan’s young opener Saim Ayub is also set to miss the upcoming ICC event as he has been omitted from the final 15-member Champions Trophy squad after sustaining an ankle injury during the second Test against South Africa. Ayub’s exclusion has opened the door for Fakhar Zaman, who was initially not in contention

9. Allah Ghazanfar (Afghanistan)

Afghanistan’s Allah Ghazanfar has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 due to a spine fracture. The injury is expected to sideline him for at least four months, putting his IPL 2025 participation in doubt as well.
