'Getting Threats. BJP Leaders Trying To Lynch Me': BSP MP Danish Ali
The BJP has accused BSP MP Danish Ali of provoking Ramesh Bidhuri during his Lok Sabha address and insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A claim rubbished by Ali.
BSP MP Danish Ali on Sunday called for a thorough breach of privilege inquiry against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey for alleged misconduct during a session in the Lok Sabha. The BSP MP's statement comes in response to claims made by Nishikant Dubey, who accused Ali of provoking Ramesh Bidhuri during his address and insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"If what Nishikant Dubey is saying is true, there must be a video of the same, there must be something. Are all the BJP MPs so shameless to just sit and laugh there? This means that they did not come in support of the Prime Minister when Ramesh Bidhuri spoke. When a BJP parliamentarian was insulting the Prime Minister, all I did was protest against it. In response to that he abused me," Danish Ali told news agency ANI.
"They did my verbal lynching in the house. The parliamentarian threatened me that he would see me outside. Now the other BJP MPs are making baseless allegations to create a narrative. Now they are trying to lynch me outside after verbal lynching inside (the Parliament)," he added when asked about Nishikant Dubey's allegation.
Earlier, he shared a short video of the BJP MP citing derogatory words used by rivals for the prime minister, writing: "Today some BJP leaders are trying to run a narrative that I provoked Shri Ramesh Biduri in the Parliament, whereas the truth is that I tried to protect the prime minister's dignity and urged the Chair to expunge from the House's records highly objectionable words used about Modi ji."
Danish Ali's comments follow accusations by the BJP which is hitting back at him after the row over derogatory remarks by the party's Lok Sabha MP Ramesh Bidhuri.
BJP Alleges Misconduct By BSP's Danish Ali
Nishikant Dubey claimed that the BSP MP had engaged in a running commentary and made unsavory remarks during Ramesh Bidhuri's speech in the Lok Sabha. Dubey also alleged that Ali had made an objectionable comment directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as reported by the news agency PTI.
In his letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Dubey condemned the comments made by Bidhuri, asserting that such remarks could not be justified by any decent society. However, he also called for an investigation into Danish Ali's actions, citing Lok Sabha rules that prohibit obstructing another MP during their allotted time and speaking while seated.
Nishikant Dubey further alleged that members from the TMC and DMK had also made comments about the faith of another community during the session.
He urged the Speaker to establish an "Inquiry Committee" to examine the statements made by various MPs during the discussion and determine the extent of culpability of other Parliament members in instigating citizens through their comments in the House, according to PTI.
Ramesh Bidhuri's offensive remarks had previously drawn condemnation from Speaker Om Birla and his own party, resulting in a show-cause notice, as per sources cited by PTI. Opposition parties, including Congress, TMC, and NCP, have voiced their support for Danish Ali and called for action against Bidhuri.
Dubey, a prominent BJP figure in the Lok Sabha, argued that the issue of breach of privilege raised by Ali and other MPs should not be considered in isolation, as doing so could lead to a miscarriage of justice.
"I, therefore, request you to constitute an 'Inquiry Committee' to investigate the utterances made by various members during the said discussion and also to inquire the extent of culpability of various other members of Parliament in instigating our citizens by way of their comments made in the House," Dubey stated in his letter to the Speaker, as quoted by PTI.
BJP MP Harnath Singh Yadav has also written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla over the alleged derogatory remarks by BSP MP Danish Ali against PM Modi.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Shazia Ilmi, condemning her party colleague Bidhuri, also sought to bring attention to alleged misconduct by Danish Ali saying, "Look at the kind of language used by Danish Ali against PM Modi calling him 'neech, neecha kahin ka, neech jaati ka insaan' when the microphones were muted, but it was within the earshot of other parliamentarians. Ravi Kishan has also come out with a statement when he clearly says that he has not just attacked him personally but also his family, and not once but many times."
The remark is in reference to a letter by BJP MP Ravi Kishan who urged Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to "examine the unparliamentary act and use of words" by BSP legislator Danish Ali.
