Mumbai: After former Maharashtra police commissioner Param Bir Singh levelled serious allegations against state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, BJP leader and Former CM Devendra Fadnavis demanded a detailed investigation into the matter by central agencies.

"The seriousness is raised by the fact that the allegations are made by a serving DG and to corroborate the claims he has attached the chat where the collection of money has been discussed," Fadnavis said.
"Either the Home Minister should resign or the Chief Minister should expel him. There should be an investigation by central government agencies. If GoM disagrees, a Court-monitored investigation needs to be done," the Former CM demanded.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray also demanded Anil Deshmukh's resignation in the wake of allegations, saying that a thorough probe must be conducted into the matter.
"Mumbai's former Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh's letter to the chief minister is explosive. This is so damaging for Maharashtra's image. Anil Deshmukh needs to submit his resignation immediately and a thorough investigation too needs to be made," he wrote in a tweet.
Letter Controversy
In his letter, police commissioner Param Bir Singh alleged that Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has been involved in several 'malpractices' including connection with arrested cop Sachin Vaze.
In his letter to the CM, he claimed that Maharashtra Home Minister had asked suspended Vaze to collect Rs 100 crore for him every month.
"In and around mid-February and thereafter, the Hon'ble Home Minister had called Shri Vaze to his official residence. At that time, one or two staff members of the Hon'ble Home Minister including his Personal Secretary, Mr. Palande, were also present. The Hon'ble Home Minister expressed to Shri Vaze that he had a target to accumulate Rs. 100 crores a month," the letter reads.
Hitting back at Singh, Deshmukh refuted the accusation as being false while claiming that the ex-Mumbai police chief was trying to save himself from the action in the Anitilia Bomb scare case and the case related to the death of Mansukh Hiran.
