Meet Sanjeev Srivastava, who has set internet on fire with his dance video

Srivastava, who hails from Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha, is an Assistant Professor of Electronics at Bhabha University, Bhopal.

NEW DELHI: Sanjeev Srivastava has stormed the social media after his dancing video from a wedding went viral on the internet. Srivastava, who hails from Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha, is an Assistant Professor of Electronics at Bhabha University, Bhopal. His dance on Govinda's song during a marriage ceremony has made him an overnight internet sensation with thousands of social media users sharing his videos and talking about him. In the video, Srivastava, who has been rechristened by netizens as 'Dancing Uncle', could be seen dancing to Govinda's chartbuster song-- "Aap Ke Aa Jane Se" from the 1987 movie Khudgarz. Talking to ABP News, Shrivastava said he is elated as his dance was liked by each and everyone who watched the video. "I am glad that people are enjoying the video and appreciate the way I danced. I didn't upload the video on the internet. It was my brother-in-law's wedding and I was asked to perform," Srivastava said. "My younger brother-in-law and his wife uploaded the video on Facebook. How it has gone viral, I still don't know. But whoever has made it viral, I thank him from the bottom of my heart," he added. He said one can be a teacher or professor and at the same time pursue his hobby. "These two things are different (being an assistant professor and a dancer) but a person can manage both of them. We all must stay connected with music," he said. Srivastava said he has been into dancing since 1982 and till 1998 he used to perform on stage. "I have also won Madhya Pradesh dance competition three times. But it was not possible for me to make a career in dancing as no social media platform was present at that time. If one wanted to grow in this field, the only option available was to go to Mumbai," he said. Srivastava said he, however, tried his best and did whatever he could to pursue his hobby of dancing. "I did my BE (Batchelor's of Engineering) from Nagpur, Maharashtra and there too I participated in dramas and performed on stage. Mother was a classical dancer who used to train children. When I was a child, I used to laugh at them but soon I also developed a passion for dancing." "When I was 10, I participated in a competition and secured the first position. Then I thought I should continue," Srivastava said.
