'Modi Calls Himself Custodian Of Hindu Rights...': Congress Slams PM Over Independence Day Speech
Congress leader Pawan Khera asked what step did Modi government take to ensure the safety and security of Bangladesh Hindus.
The Congress party on Thursday trained guns on Narendra Modi over his speech on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day saying he should speak like a Prime Minister and not like an ordinary politician of a Bharatiya Janata Party. During his speech from the ramparts of Red Fort, PM Modi touched upon many topics including civil code, situation in Bangladesh, atrocities on women etc.
Modi said that the existing civil code in the country is communal and that India needs a secular civil code. He also remarked that the terms of the previous governments were marred with terrorism.
Launching an attack on Modi, Congress leader Pawan Khera said that the PM takes oath on the Constitution but calls the code written by Bhimrao Ambedkar as communal.
