IMD Weather Update: Heavy Rain, Snowfall Likely In Himachal. Cold Conditions In North For Next Three days

The cold conditions will sweep states of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and north Rajasthan during the next 24 hours and abate thereafter, as per the IMD prediction.

New Delhi:  People in northern India have to brace up for moderate rainfall and severe cold conditions for the next three-four days. 

Cold day to severe cold day conditions will be witnessed in some parts over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in the next two days and in some parts over north Madhya Pradesh in the next 24 hours, as warned by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) weather bulletin on Wednesday.

The condition is expected to abate thereafter. The cold conditions will sweep states of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and north Rajasthan during the next 24 hours and abate thereafter.

A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect Northwest regions from January 21. Under its influence, scattered to widespread light/moderate rainfall/snowfall is very likely over Western Himalayan Region from January 21 to 23. 

Himachal Pradesh is likely to witness isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall on Friday. Scattered to widespread light/moderate rainfall is expected over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, north Rajasthan and isolated to scattered rainfall over Madhya Pradesh between Friday and Sunday with maximum intensity on Saturday.

In fact, there is a prediction of an isolated thunderstorm with lightning over the region on Friday.

Scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura between January 20 and 23.

Minimum temperatures are likely to rise by 2-4° C over the northwest region during the next two days, according to the Met department.

Dense to very dense fog in night/morning hours very likely in isolated pockets over Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, north Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal during next 24 hours, said the IMD in its weather update.
