3 Labourers Killed In Wall Collapse At Construction Site In Hyderabad's LB Nagar

The workers, all from Bihar, were trapped under the debris when a wall adjacent to a cellar pit gave way while excavation work was underway

Three labourers lost their lives after a wall collapsed at an under-construction site in Hyderabad’s LB Nagar on Wednesday. The workers, all from Bihar, were trapped under the debris when a wall adjacent to a cellar pit gave way while excavation work was underway.

The sudden collapse crushed the workers leaving them with fatal injuries. Despite immediate rescue efforts, they succumbed to their injuries before help could arrive. The identities of the victims are yet to be confirmed.

Upon receiving information, the LB Nagar police rushed to the spot and initiated a rescue operation. The cause of the collapse is now under investigation, with authorities looking into possible safety lapses at the construction site.

Last year, a tragic incident occurred in Mailardevpally, Rajendernagar, where two minors lost their lives and three other children sustained severe injuries after an eight-foot compound wall of a neighbouring house collapsed on them. The wall had weakened due to heavy rainfall the previous night. The police said that the incident took place around 9:30 am while five children were playing just three feet away from the wall at one of their homes. Three-year-old Afriya Parveen and nine-year-old Noor Jahan Khatun died on the spot, while two others suffered leg fractures.

This marked the second such accident within a month at that point in time. Earlier, on May 9, seven migrant workers were killed when a retaining wall at a construction site in Bachupally collapsed following a heavy downpour.

Meanwhile, the incident in Hyderabad was reported just hours after a massive fire broke out at Shesha Sai Chemical Industry in Cherlapally industrial area on Tuesday, triggering a series of powerful explosions as chemical drums burst in succession. Thick black smoke engulfed the area, sparking panic among workers and residents. Locals reported breathing difficulties due to toxic fumes filling the air.
